Founded in December 2005 by Doris Cortes, El Centro Jewelry represents much more than a jewelry store. It is the realization of a lifelong dream, built through determination, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to serving the community.

As a Mexican immigrant, Doris arrived in the United States with the same aspiration shared by many entrepreneurs—the opportunity to build a better future through hard work and dedication.

Inspired by the American Dream and driven by her passion for business, she opened a small gift shop featuring an extensive perfume collection and a modest selection of jewelry. What began as a humble storefront would eventually grow into one of the largest jewelry stores in Modesto.

The jewelry side of the business started small. With limited inventory and the support of a single employee—a professional jeweler who was also a Mexican immigrant pursuing his own American Dream—Doris began laying the foundation for what El Centro Jewelry would become.

Together, they spent countless hours repairing jewelry, creating custom pieces, helping customers, and learning every aspect of the industry. The early years were not easy. Like many small businesses, El Centro faced financial challenges, uncertainty, and obstacles that tested their resolve. Rather than allowing those difficulties to slow their progress, they embraced every challenge as an opportunity to learn, improve, and grow stronger.

Their commitment to quality workmanship, honest business practices, and customer satisfaction steadily earned the trust of the community. As word spread, so did the business. As a Business Entrepreneurship graduate and future professional jeweler, Aldair brings a new generation of leadership while preserving the values that have guided the company from the beginning.
